for support of training programs to improve the legislative oversight processes
The Project on Government Oversight, or POGO, is "a nonpartisan independent watchdog that champions good government reforms." Founded in 1981, POGO supports Congress, the executive branch, journalists, and others working for accountable and transparent government in the United States. This grant will support a revitalization of POGOs well-regarded bipartisan Congressional Oversight Training program, which educates congressional staff on how to help the members they are serving plan and carry out more effective oversight activities. POGO seeks to bolster this critical function of Congress, and in so doing redress the ideologically driven oversight that is both a symptom and increasingly a cause of political polarization.
