Overview
The New Venture Fund’s Moving Beyond Oil project aims to contribute to the reduction of oil use and to the transition to clean energy alternatives in the transportation sector in the United States. To keep climate mitigation goals on track, a reduction of about 50 percent in oil use by 2030 is necessary. The project will develop and implement synergistic and integrated strategies to reach this target in key regions on the country. One of its near-term priorities is to support the Pacific Northwest region to establish low-carbon fuel standards that reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

Grants to this Grantee
for support of the Vision First project
This grant will support a project to establish partnerships with grassroots organizations to educate the public about threats to reproductive rights.
for the Open Internet Defense Fund
This grant will support the Open Internet Defense Fund, a project of the New Venture Fund, and its work to promote an open internet. It will focus on protecting net neutrality, the principle that internet service providers and government should treat all data on the internet equally, not discriminating or charging differentially by user or content. The fund both provides grants to organizations engaged in open internet work and coordinates coalitions of those organizations.
for support of the Safety Net Defense Fund
The Safety Net Defense Fund project, a collaboration among the New Venture Fund, the Center for Community Change, and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, seeks to protect key anti-poverty programs that comprise the modern safety net such as the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and Supplemental Security Income. Further, the project intends to prevent the adoption of block grants by raising public awareness of proposals to undermine these programs.
